Meet the team - Mel, Branch Manager for St Albans
Position: Branch Manager of the St Albans Branch
Likes: Skiing, Dogs, Motorsport (in no particular order!)
Although I have been with the team for many years, our new website and blog seems like the perfect excuse for a re-introduction!
I originally trained as a teacher, qualifying with a Bed Hons in Education Studies from the University of Hertfordshire in June 2006 (a scarily long time ago!) Although I loved my training and always held a passion for education, I decided that teaching was not for me. I worked for a very brief stint at a finance company and although I worked with some lovely people, let’s just say that I didn’t get a huge amount of fulfilment from the job..
Working for Clearly seemed like the perfect middle ground. It enabled me to continue working within education, but in a very different way. Firstly I was a consultant, then senior consultant and I am now the branch manager for St Albans.
It may sound cheesy, but I really do love my job. It is great to be able to help our education staff find work that suits their lifestyle, in settings that they enjoy going to. The choice to do supply often plays a big part in helping our staff to get their work-life balance back and it is lovely to hear that candidates are enjoying working for Clearly. I also take great pleasure in maintaining the fabulous relationships we have with our schools and nurseries (an ever-growing group of settings!)
I am really proud of Clearly and what we do. As a company we genuinely do the best we can in the interest of our candidates and clients, the focus is always on that and not on sales targets. Working with APSCo means that we can be safe in the knowledge that we uphold the highest safeguarding standards. It also helps that I work with an amazing team, who I consider my second family. I may be a bit biased but hey ho – I think they are the best.
When not at Clearly, I am running around after my two lovely (and very energetic..) little boys and our naughty but adorable Labrador Rocco. Boys definitely rule my roost, and as much as I love them - work is sometimes a bit of a respite!
